Core Functionality and Technology
The primary function of the EK1100 is to seamlessly bridge two distinct communication domains:
- EtherCAT Network (100BASE-TX): The high-speed industrial Ethernet protocol coming from the master or preceding device.
- E-bus Signal Representation: The internal communication bus for the modular I/O terminals.
The coupler converts passing EtherCAT telegrams into the E-bus signal format with minimum processing delay (approx. 1 µs), ensuring true real-time data exchange.
- Dual RJ45 Ports: Features two RJ45 sockets, allowing for easy connection to the main network (In) and optional daisy-chaining of further EtherCAT devices (Out). This enables flexible line, star, or tree network topologies.
